The Diplomat V2 Travel Rod is a range of freshwater spinning rods for holidays and spontaneous sessions. Four-section blanks, or five sections on the 1005M, reduce transport length to 58–74 cm. Abu Garcia describes their fishing feel as comparable to a conventional two-section rod, so the multi-piece design is intended to save packing space without giving up familiar handling.
Start with the weight of the lure or complete rig you intend to cast. The 704L covers the lightest range at 3–14 g. The 704ML, 804ML and 904ML all cover 5–21 g, with increasing length and rod weight. Choose between them for the working length you need and the packed size you can carry, rather than for a higher lure rating.

All nine models have a strong, responsive 24T Carbon blank and a Moderate Fast action. Their different power ratings and casting ranges, rather than a different stated action, guide lure selection. A full cork grip gives a continuous handhold, while the light, ergonomic Abu Garcia WFS reel seat secures the spinning reel.
Lightweight stainless steel LTS guides carry the line, with seven guides including the tip on the shorter models and eight on the 2.74 m and 3.04 m models. The hook keeper provides a place to secure the hook between casts or when moving spots. All models have a Black/Red finish.
Each rod comes with a strong protective travel tube and an adjustable carrying strap for carrying the separated sections. Check the model's transport length against your luggage space, as the longest assembled rod does not have the longest packed length.
