They are casting rods for baitcasting reels, designed for freshwater pike fishing with lures, including large lures and big fish. Choose a version whose casting range matches your lure weights rather than treating the family as a fixed-spool spinning setup.
Start with the lure range. The 7011 MH covers 20–70 g at 2.13 m and 161 g rod weight, the 7611 H covers 30–90 g at 2.29 m and 177 g, and the 7411 HP covers 40–120 g at 2.23 m and 215 g. All have Extra Fast actions and 1+1 construction, so the choice is mainly lure weight, fishing length and rod weight.
The 802 XXH covers 50–180 g, the 862 XXHP 60–230 g and the 822 Extreme 100–280 g, all with Moderate Fast actions. The 822 accepts the heaviest lures, while the 862 is longer at 2.59 m and lighter at 274 g versus 2.49 m and 295 g. For lower ranges with Fast action, compare the 802 HP at 40–110 g and the longer 842 XHP at 40–140 g.
The two-piece models are shorter to carry: both 802 versions measure 133 cm packed, the 822 Extreme 136 cm, the 842 XHP 138 cm and the 862 XXHP 140 cm. The 1+1 versions measure 181 cm for the 7011 MH, 188 cm for the 7411 HP and 193 cm for the 7611 H. Check that transport length fits your available space before choosing by fishing length alone.
All versions combine light, powerful 30T Carbon blanks with ergonomic KCS-type reel seats and high-density EVA grips for comfortable repeated casting. Seaguide XOG Stainless Steel anti-tangle guides help reduce tangles. The family is on average more than 15% lighter than its predecessors, but compare the individual rod weights of 161–295 g for your chosen version.
Every version has a hook keeper and is supplied in a cloth bag. The keeper provides a place to secure the hook during pauses, while the bag holds the rod for transport. Select the appropriate 133–193 cm transport length for your storage space.

The Beast X2 Casting rods are designed for freshwater pike fishing with baitcasting reels, including casting large lures and fighting big fish. Their fast-taper 30T Carbon blanks combine strength and power with low weight for repeated casting throughout the day. Abu Garcia states that the range is on average more than 15% lighter than its predecessors, with improved actions achieved through faster tapers and lighter guides. Professional pike anglers across Europe have tested the rods over extended periods.
Match the rod's casting range to your lures first, then compare length, action and carrying size. The eight versions cover distinct weight ranges rather than one interchangeable setup.
Version | Length | Casting weight | Action | Power | Rod weight | Construction | Transport length |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
7011 MH | 2.13 m | 20–70 g | Extra Fast | Medium Heavy | 161 g | 1+1 | 181 cm |
7411 HP | 2.23 m | 40–120 g | Extra Fast | Heavy Plus | 215 g | 1+1 | 188 cm |
7611 H | 2.29 m | 30–90 g | Extra Fast | Heavy | 177 g | 1+1 | 193 cm |
802 HP | 2.44 m | 40–110 g | Fast | Heavy Plus | 211 g | 2 pieces | 133 cm |
802 XXH | 2.44 m | 50–180 g | Moderate Fast | Extra Extra Heavy Plus | 249 g | 2 pieces | 133 cm |
822 Extreme | 2.49 m | 100–280 g | Moderate Fast | Extreme Heavy | 295 g | 2 pieces | 136 cm |
842 XHP | 2.54 m | 40–140 g | Fast | Extra Heavy Plus | 258 g | 2 pieces | 138 cm |
862 XXHP | 2.59 m | 60–230 g | Moderate Fast | Extra Extra Heavy Plus | 274 g | 2 pieces | 140 cm |
The 7011 MH is the shortest and lightest option, with the lowest casting range. The 7611 H adds length and a higher upper lure limit, while the 7411 HP increases that limit to 120 g in a slightly shorter rod. All three have Extra Fast actions and 1+1 construction.
At 2.44 m, the 802 HP and 802 XXH offer the same length and transport size, but the XXH handles heavier lures and has a Moderate Fast rather than Fast action. The 842 XHP combines a longer 2.54 m blank with a 40–140 g range and Fast action. For heavy bigbaits, compare the 862 XXHP's 60–230 g range with the 822 Extreme's 100–280 g range. The 862 is longer and lighter, while the Extreme accepts the heaviest lures in the family. These heavier-lure options have Moderate Fast actions, so do not assume every fast-taper blank has the same action rating.
Seaguide XOG Stainless Steel anti-tangle guides help reduce line tangles during casting. The 7011 MH, 7411 HP, 7611 H and both 802 models have 10 guides including the tip, the 822 Extreme and 842 XHP have 11, and the 862 XXHP has 12. Ergonomic KCS-type reel seats and high-density EVA grips provide comfortable handling when repeatedly casting and playing fish. The 822 Extreme and 862 XXHP are also described as reducing line friction for long casts. The 822's blank supports precise lure control, while the 862 combines casting accuracy with feedback on lure contact and non-slip grips in poor weather. The 842 XHP's fast-taper blank provides a direct casting response.
The 1+1 models retain longer transport lengths of 181–193 cm. The two-piece models pack down to 133–140 cm, making carrying size an important choice alongside fishing length. Every version has a hook keeper to secure the hook between casts and comes in a cloth bag. All variants are green.
