Choose the 5601HD to wind with your left hand or the 5600HD to wind with your right. The specified maximum drag also differs, at 8 kg and 1.8 kg respectively. Both weigh 295 g and retrieve 65 cm per turn, so handle side and required drag capacity are the main selection points.
Both are designed for heavy freshwater pike fishing with large lures, including jerkbaits, swimbaits and large softbaits. Their aluminium construction and Super Brass gearing support this demanding use. Casting is the primary application, although the supplier also describes trolling as a possible use.
Both hold 220 m of 0.32 mm monofilament. The 5600HD also lists 215 m of 0.36 mm braid and is supplied without pre-loaded line or a spare spool, so you need to spool it before fishing. Braid capacity and these supply details are not specified for the 5601HD.
Both models retrieve 65 cm per turn with a 5.3:1 gear ratio. Changing between left- and right-hand retrieve therefore does not change the stated retrieval rate. The double 80 mm aluminium handle with EVA knobs provides the same grip arrangement on both models.

The Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Beast 5601HD and 5600HD are round baitcasting reels for freshwater pike fishing with large lures. Their solid aluminium frame, body and side plates, together with Super Brass gearing, provide the strength needed for demanding lure work while retaining smooth rotation. Both models have a green-and-black finish and weigh 295 g.
These reels are intended primarily for casting jerkbaits, swimbaits and large softbaits, and can also be used for trolling. Both have a 5.3:1 gear ratio and retrieve 65 cm of line per handle turn, giving you the same retrieval rate whichever handle side you choose. Three bearings support rotation. The double 80 mm aluminium handle has EVA knobs for a comfortable grip when working large lures.
The Carbon Matrix drag controls line release during the fight, with an aluminium star adjuster for setting resistance. Both models also feature the supplier's Dual brake IAR System. The 5600HD is additionally specified with centrifugal spool braking, which controls spool rotation during casting.
The 5601HD is the left-hand retrieve model, size 5601, with a specified maximum drag of 8 kg. The 5600HD is the right-hand retrieve model, size 5600, with a specified maximum drag of 1.8 kg. Choose according to your preferred winding hand and required drag capacity, not a difference in retrieval speed or reel weight.
Both hold 220 m of 0.32 mm monofilament. The 5600HD also has a specified braid capacity of 215 m at 0.36 mm and an aluminium spool. It is supplied without pre-loaded line or a spare spool, so line must be added before use. Those braid-capacity, spool and supply details are not specified for the 5601HD.
