Turning the handle one third of a turn counterclockwise reduces drag pressure by 50%. This lets you lower the bait without disengaging the reel, making it easier to deploy a downrigger presentation.
Choose ALTUMDLCSYN-20L if you crank with your left hand and ALTUMDLCSYN-20 if you crank with your right. Both are size 20 with a 4.7:1 ratio, 64 cm retrieve per turn, 526 g weight and 7.7 kg maximum drag, so you do not trade these specifications for your preferred hand position.
Neither version is pre-spooled or includes a spare spool. Both hold 455 m of 0.38 mm mono or 620 m of 0.36 mm braid. You need to load your chosen line before fishing and adjust the digital counter to the line type.

This size-20 conventional trolling reel combines an illuminated digital line counter with Syncro™ drag for controlled bait deployment from a boat. The counter can be adjusted to the line type, helping you track how much line you have let out behind or below the boat. The manufacturer's water-type specification is freshwater.
Turning the handle one third of a turn counterclockwise reduces drag pressure by 50%. This Syncro™ function lets you lower baits on a downrigger without disengaging the reel. The star drag uses Carbon Matrix™ carbon-fiber material and provides a maximum drag of 7.7 kg.
ALTUMDLCSYN-20L has a left-hand handle, while ALTUMDLCSYN-20 has a right-hand handle. Choose the version that matches your preferred cranking hand. Both have a 4.7:1 gear ratio, retrieve 64 cm per handle turn and weigh 526 g, so the hand position is the main difference rather than gearing or drag capacity.
Both versions hold 455 m of 0.38 mm monofilament. The left-hand version also has supplied monofilament capacities of 395 m at 0.41 mm and 305 m at 0.46 mm. Both have braided-line capacities of 620 m at 0.36 mm, 510 m at 0.38 mm and 435 m at 0.41 mm. Match your chosen line diameter to the stated capacity when planning the amount to load. Neither version comes pre-spooled or includes a spare spool, so line must be fitted before fishing.
The graphite frame and sideplates keep the housing light, while the machined aluminum spool holds the line. Two stainless steel ball bearings support rotation, and the Duragear™ brass gear provides the drive. An extended-throw paddle handle provides leverage when winding under load. Both versions have a Multi-Stop anti-reverse mechanism.
