Proven Carolina System for Saltwater Bottom Fishing

What works on perch and pike-perch works equally well on flounder, plaice, and cod. The Carolina Rig (a weight-forward bottom rig with a free-running leader) keeps the bait moving naturally along the seabed. Cast it out, let it sink to the bottom, and retrieve with gentle twitches to trigger strikes from flatfish holding tight to the sand or gravel.

Fish-Attracting Wattworm Imitations on a Strong Fluorocarbon Leader

Each rig comes fitted with two fish-scented soft worm lures — modelled on the lugworm (Arenicola marina), a natural staple in Baltic waters. The fish-aroma additive gives passing flatfish and cod extra incentive to commit. The leader itself is tied from 0.40 mm fluorocarbon, which offers low visibility underwater and good abrasion resistance against shells and stones on the seabed. Hook size 2 is well matched to the target species.
