The Balzer Meerforellen System Pattegrisen is a pre-tied fluorocarbon leader rig designed for spinning after sea trout along coastlines and estuaries. Mount a spoon or wobbler at the bottom, and let the dropper fly do its work.

The Pattegrisen Principle

This rig runs a 0.38 mm fluorocarbon main line with a 0.35 mm side arm carrying a dropper fly — the classic Scandinavian sea-trout setup. A lure is clipped to the lower swivel to add flash and draw fish up from depth. More often than not, the sea trout takes the fly rather than the lure. During the fight, the main line slides down toward the hooked fish, keeping the lure clear of the bottom so it cannot snag.

Fluorocarbon Construction

Fluorocarbon is virtually invisible underwater and highly abrasion-resistant — ideal for the rocky, weedy ground typical of sea-trout surf-zone fishing. The 155 cm total length gives the rig enough separation between main line and lure to work naturally, while keeping the whole setup compact enough to cast on standard spinning or light-surf tackle.
