Braided line like the WFT Strong Multicolor offers several advantages: virtually zero stretch for better sensitivity and faster hook setting, much thinner diameter for the same breaking strain (allowing smaller guides), excellent abrasion resistance against rocks and coral, and superior durability in saltwater. The tradeoff is slightly higher visibility underwater, which is why many anglers add a fluorocarbon or monofilament leader.
The five-color pattern repeating every 50m serves multiple purposes. The 10m markers let you quickly estimate how much line you've cast, helping you fish consistent distances and depth zones. When targeting specific structures or depth ranges, the color changes act as visual depth indicators. This is particularly useful in saltwater fishing where you're often working at varied depths or need precise casting distance for lure presentations.
At 0.52mm diameter with 86kg breaking strain, this line balances casting distance, sensitivity, and durability. The diameter is substantial enough to handle rough saltwater conditions, abrasion from rocky structures, and the demands of heavy tackle, while remaining thin enough for good casting performance and reel capacity. This size works well for medium to heavy saltwater species and conventional or low-profile baitcasting setups.
The 86kg breaking strain and 0.52mm diameter make this line ideal for medium to large saltwater species: sea bass, pollack, larger mackerel, rays, smaller sharks, and similar gamefish. It's less ideal for finesse presentations targeting smaller species or ultra-light saltwater fishing. For bigger species like large sharks or giant trevally, you might prefer even heavier line. Consider the typical species and tackle weight in your fishing grounds when selecting line strength.
A fluorocarbon or monofilament leader of 0.45–0.60mm (roughly 60–80lb) is recommended. This leader reduces visibility (braided line is visible to fish), provides a stretch buffer for sudden runs or head shakes from large saltwater fish, and sacrifices only itself when snagged rather than breaking your main line. Attach the leader using a strong knot—the improved clinch knot or Palomar knot work well—or a specialist braided-to-mono connector if preferred.
Braided line is relatively low-maintenance. Rinse the spool with fresh water after each saltwater session to remove salt buildup and extend line life. Inspect for damage, fraying, or weak spots, especially near the reel and guides. Store the spool in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent UV degradation. Unlike monofilament, braided line doesn't have a strict expiration date, but it will eventually weaken from use, UV exposure, and abrasion. Respool when you notice significant wear on the outer strands or reduced strength.

The WFT Strong Multicolor is a professional-grade 8-strand braided fishing line engineered for demanding saltwater conditions. Its 1000m spool and substantial 86kg breaking strain make it an excellent choice for targeting large sea species with heavy tackle and long-distance casting.
This line features an 8-strand braided construction from high-quality polyethylene (PE) fibers, delivering virtually zero stretch for direct sensitivity and immediate hook setting. The tight braid and surface coating provide a round, smooth profile that glides effortlessly through guides and improves casting distance. The durable coating protects the line during extended use and handling.
The multicolor pattern cycles through five distinct colors with a marker every 10m, repeating the full sequence each 50m. This visibility system helps you track casting distance, monitor spool depletion, and identify depth zones—invaluable when fishing different structures or working specific target zones in saltwater environments.
WFT's reputation for durability and reliability is evident in the Strong Multicolor line. At 0.52mm diameter with 86kg breaking strain, this line handles the abrasion of rocky outcrops, sharp shells, and coral heads common in saltwater fishing. The braided construction resists the saltwater environment better than monofilament, requiring less maintenance and offering longer service life.
