The independent, micro-adjustable rear drag controls resistance during line release. Turning the handle disengages the freespool, leaving the Quick-Torque front drag to control the fight. This lets you set line-release resistance separately from the fighting drag.
The stated capacity is 500 m of 0.35 mm line, with a 4.6:1 gear ratio and up to 1.02 m retrieved per handle turn. This gives a substantial line reserve and a high retrieve per turn for fishing farther out. The capacity figure applies specifically to the stated line diameter.
Heavy-duty, spring-loaded clips help repeat casts to the same distance. The worm gear lays line precisely, micro line-lay washers allow adjustment, and the floating rotor guard helps prevent tangles. These features help manage the line between casts rather than establishing a specific casting range.

The Sonik HEROX 8000 FRS is a carp freespool reel for anglers who want a dual-drag system and high line capacity. Its independently adjustable rear freespool drag provides smooth line release, then a turn of the handle disengages the freespool for playing the fish. The reel was developed for reliability in demanding fishing conditions.
The micro-adjustable rear drag lets you fine-tune resistance while a fish takes line. The Quick-Torque front drag controls line release during the fight, with a stated maximum drag of 18 kg. Instant anti-reverse prevents the handle from turning backwards.
The 8000 size holds 500 m of 0.35 mm line. With a 4.6:1 gear ratio and up to 1.02 m of line retrieved per handle turn, it brings in over a metre of line per turn at its stated maximum. This helps when retrieving line after fishing farther out.
A worm gear provides precise line lay, and micro line-lay washers allow adjustment of the lay. Heavy-duty, spring-loaded line clips help repeat casts to the same distance. The floating rotor line guard helps prevent tangles, while the oversized line roller is designed to reduce line twist.
The body and rotor are graphite, with a slim matt black finish. The reel weighs 624 g and has 5 + 1 bearings. A matt black anodised aluminium handle with a rubber grip provides a secure hold when winding.
