This rod excels with small fish species using finesse tactics. It's perfect for trout in shallow water, sea trout, and bass on light lures, as well as any technique requiring precision casting of tiny baits and lures.
LRF (Long-Range Finesse) fishing involves casting small, lightweight lures over distance and detecting subtle takes. The SGS2's extra-sensitive blank lets you feel every movement, while the 0.5-7g lure rating and lightweight design make it ideal for this demanding technique.
Yes, this rod is designed for saltwater use. It features SeaGuide Gunsmoke saltwater guides and a durable construction that withstands harsh marine conditions, making it perfect for sea trout and coastal finesse fishing.
At just 111g, the SGS2 is ultra-lightweight, reducing arm fatigue during long fishing sessions. The light weight combined with its two-piece, 110cm transport design means you can fish longer and carry it easily to remote spots.
The SGS2 is rated for lines from 0.2-0.4 kg, which translates to very thin, light lines like 6-10 lb monofilament or 4-8 lb braided line. Pair it with small 0.5-7g lures for the best finesse experience.

Bring ultra-light finesse fishing to life with the SGS2 Ultra Light Game series from Savage Gear. These rods are engineered for the lightest lures and thinnest lines, delivering exceptional sensitivity while maintaining the strength to handle unexpected strikes. Built with Toray high modulus carbon fibre and equipped with premium SeaGuide components, they excel at Long-Range Finesse (LRF) and micro game fishing.
The SGS2 features extra-sensitive blanks tuned for detecting every twitch and subtle movement of your lure. The Toray carbon fibre construction keeps weight down to just 111g, reducing fatigue during extended sessions. Tough EVA handles provide reliable grip in wet conditions, while the SeaGuide Gold Label reel seat ensures a solid platform for light reels.
SeaGuide Gunsmoke saltwater guides and CCS (Coil Control) guide setting minimize line friction and maximize casting distance. The mod-fast action balances sensitivity with casting capability, ideal for presenting small soft lures and spinners. Two-piece construction with a 110cm transport length makes this rod highly portable.
Ideal for targeting small fish species with finesse tactics: trout in shallow water, sea trout, and bass on light lures. Perfect for LRF (Long-Range Finesse) and micro game fishing, or any technique where precision matters more than power.
