The Silencer coating reduces noise during casting and line movement. Unlike standard braids that create audible vibrations, this line operates quietly, making it ideal for clear-water fishing where fish can detect disturbance.
8-strand braid is smoother, rounder, and more supple than 4-strand. It casts further, abrades less against guides, and feels more refined during casting. The tradeoff is slightly higher cost. For predator fishing where silent operation matters, 8-strand is preferred.
Thinner lines (0.12–0.19 mm) suit finesse spinning for trout and smaller predators. Medium sizes (0.23–0.28 mm) handle pike and zander in normal conditions. Thicker variants (0.35 mm+) are for heavy cover, large pike, and rough terrain. Match breaking strain to your rod's capacity and target species.
The silicon coating is durable but gradually wears with extended use. Abrasion against rocks, sharp teeth, and rough guides accelerates wear. The coating maintains quiet operation and suppleness for many fishing days. As it wears, abrasion resistance remains excellent thanks to the tightly braided PE core.
The HD8 Silencer Braid is primarily formulated for freshwater predator fishing. While the braided construction itself can tolerate saltwater, we recommend rinsing thoroughly after saltwater use and checking with Savage Gear for their saltwater-rated braid alternatives.
Each spool contains 120 metres of braided line. This volume suits spinning reels and round-profile reel styles where the 0.19 mm variant and its peers load effectively without excessive bulk.

The 8-strand HD8 Silencer Braid delivers exceptional strength and sensitivity with virtually zero stretch. A smooth silicon coating reduces noise during casting and line movement, making it ideal for cautious fish in clear water conditions.
Heavily braided with tight weave and high-density PE fibres, the round profile ensures smooth flow through guides and minimal friction. The silicon coating provides durability against abrasion while maintaining suppleness. Available in multiple diameters and breaking strains, you can match the line to your target species and water conditions.
The Silencer name refers to the quiet characteristics of the coated braid. Unlike noisy braids that disturb wary fish, this line moves through the water and across guides with minimal audible disturbance. This makes it especially effective for spinning and jigging in pressured waters.
Each spool offers 120m of ready-to-use line. The construction resists abrasion from rocks, wood, and teeth, extending the line's working life. With virtually no stretch, strike detection is instant and directional control remains precise throughout the fight.
While developed for pike and perch, the range covers diameters suitable for trout, zander, and bass fishing. The colour options allow you to choose visibility (hi-vis for distance control) or discretion based on water clarity.
