It is intended for freshwater pike and zander with lures in the 30–100 g casting range. Swimbaits, shads, jerkbaits, gliders, spinnerbaits and bucktail spinners are supported, making it a choice for heavy-lure fishing from a boat or the bank rather than light-lure fishing.
It combines control of heavy lures with give when playing fish, helping maintain hook hold under load. The Japanese Torayca 30T blank also transmits lure movement and bites with lures above 80 g, but the action cannot guarantee against lost fish or line breakage.
The 2.59 m rod separates into two sections and has a transport length of 136 cm. A competition-style rod bag is included, so you can store and carry it in the supplied bag, provided your vehicle or luggage accommodates that length.
For big-bait applications from 50 g, the supplier recommends 0.20–0.28 mm braided line. A strong steel leader is recommended for pike, so account for that leader when assembling a pike setup rather than connecting the lure directly to the braid.

The Savage Gear Alpha SG4 Monster is a two-piece spinning rod for targeting pike and zander with heavy artificial lures in freshwater. Its moderate-fast action combines the power to work large lures with cushioning when playing fish. The 2.59 m model has a casting weight of 30–100 g and weighs 204 g.
The rod suits swimbaits, shads, jerkbaits, gliders, spinnerbaits and bucktail spinners. Supported uses include trolling large swimbaits along underwater edges, working jerkbaits with pauses and fishing heavy spinnerbaits through weed beds. It can be used from a boat or the bank on larger waters. The heavy casting range makes it a specialist choice for experienced lure anglers rather than a light-lure starter rod.
The blank uses Japanese Torayca 30T fibres to transmit lure movement and bites, including with lures above 80 g. Its moderate-fast action provides give under load to help keep hooks in place without sacrificing control of heavy lures. This cushioning does not eliminate the possibility of lost fish or line breakage.
SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides with SiN inserts guide the line, while the SeaGuide Alien Lock Down reel seat holds the reel securely under load. A full rear grip and long foregrip provide a stable hold when working large lures and playing fish over longer sessions.
For big-bait use from 50 g, the supplier recommends braided line of 0.20–0.28 mm and a strong steel leader when targeting pike. The two-piece construction reduces the transport length to 136 cm, so check that space is available in your vehicle or luggage. A competition-style rod bag is included for storage and transport.
