It is intended for large lures weighing 50–150 g for pike and zander in freshwater. Suitable lure types include shads, swimbaits, glidebaits and jerkbaits, plus heavy softbaits for jigging in deeper water. Choose it for heavy-lure work, not for lures below 50 g.
Yes. The SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides have SiN inserts suitable for braided line and provide low-friction line travel. This supports repeated casting with braid, while lure choice should remain within the stated 50–150 g casting range.
The 2.59 m rod separates into two sections and has a transport length of 136 cm. A competition-ready rod bag is included for protection, so allow at least the stated packed length when planning storage or travel.
The supplier suggests medium to large fixed-spool spinning reels in sizes 4000–6000 for this casting-weight class. The SeaGuide Alien Lock Down reel seat secures the reel under load, making these sizes the supplier's starting point for assembling a heavy-lure setup.

The Savage Gear Alpha SG4 Big Bait is a two-piece spinning rod for fishing large artificial lures for pike and zander in freshwater rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Its progressive Japanese Torayca 30T blank supports accurate casts with heavy lures and transfers power into hooksets and the fight.
At 2.59 m with a casting weight of 50–150 g, this model is intended for large shads, swimbaits, glidebaits and jerkbaits. It also suits jigging heavy softbaits for zander in deeper water. Lures below 50 g are less suited to its stated casting range, so this is a heavy-lure option rather than a light all-round rod.
SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides with SiN (silicon nitride) inserts provide low-friction line travel and are suitable for braided line. This matters when repeatedly casting heavy lures with braid. The SeaGuide Alien Lock Down reel seat holds the reel securely under load. The supplier suggests medium to large fixed-spool spinning reels in sizes 4000–6000 for this casting-weight class.
The rod weighs 208 g and separates into two sections, reducing its 2.59 m fishing length to a transport length of 136 cm. A competition-ready rod bag is included to protect it in transit. Check that your storage and transport space can accommodate the 136 cm packed length.
