It is intended for large softbaits, swimbaits and jerkbaits weighing 60–180 g when targeting pike and zander. Supported uses include heavy softbait jigging, casting around structure and trolling large swimbait rigs, so choose it for heavy lure work rather than light presentations.
Yes. The SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides with SiN inserts are suited to braided line, including stronger braid for heavy lures. For pike, the supplier recommends a steel or braided titanium leader for protection against teeth, so braid compatibility does not remove the need for a suitable leader.
The 2.43 m rod separates into two sections with a transport length of 128 cm. A competition-ready rod bag is included for protection in transit, so check that your vehicle or storage space accommodates that length.
It is aimed more at experienced anglers using heavy lures. The 60–180 g casting range suits large jerkbaits and swimbaits, and the supplier advises beginners without experience of those lures to start with lighter setups.

The Savage Gear Alpha SG4 Big Bait is a two-section spinning rod for large lures when targeting pike and zander. Its progressive Japanese Torayca 30T blank builds casting power and transmits hooksets, while the tip cushions sudden movements during the fight.
The 2.43 m rod has a casting weight of 60–180 g and weighs 198 g. It is intended for large softbaits, swimbaits and jerkbaits, including heavy softbait jigging in deeper spots and casting around structure. The supplier also lists trolling large swimbait rigs as a use. Its heavy lure rating makes it a choice for experienced anglers working large baits rather than a light setup for learning lure fishing.
SeaGuide CCS stainless steel guides with SiN inserts provide low-friction line travel and are suited to braided line, including stronger braid used with heavy lures. The SeaGuide Alien Lock Down reel seat holds the reel securely during casting and repeated jerking. For pike fishing, the supplier recommends a steel or braided titanium leader to protect against teeth.
The two-section construction reduces the transport length to 128 cm. A competition-ready rod bag is included to protect the rod in transit, so allow space for that packed length when planning transport.
