Salmo Rail Shad: casting and vertical fishing with one lure

The Salmo Rail Shad is a sinking hard-plastic lure for pike, perch and zander. Designed for both casting and vertical fishing, it lets you switch presentation without changing lure models. It can be fished from a boat or the bank, including in harbours and alongside sheet piling.

Shared size and sinking behaviour

Every colour version is 6 cm long and weighs 14 g. The sinking design allows the lure to descend before you work it, making it suitable for the stated vertical presentation as well as casting. No fixed running depth is specified.

Choose your colour

The six colours are Holographic Purpledescent, Dace Blue, Supernatural Hot Perch, Holographic Green Shiner, Ice Perch and Fire Craw. Length, weight, body material and intended use are the same across the family, so your choice is the colour rather than a different size or presentation. The supplier does not specify colour-specific fishing conditions.

Supplied quantity

Each pack contains one lure in the selected colour, not an assortment of the six colours.

Frequently asked

Can I cast the Rail Shad as well as fish it vertically?

Yes. The sinking hard-plastic lure is designed for both casting and vertical fishing from a boat or the bank, including harbours and sheet piling. You can choose either presentation with the same 6 cm, 14 g lure, although no fixed running depth is specified.

Which fish is the Rail Shad intended for?

The supplier names pike, perch and zander. All six colours share the same 6 cm length, 14 g weight and casting or vertical use, so choosing a colour does not change the stated target species.

How do the six variants differ, and what is included?

Only the supplied colour differs: Holographic Purpledescent, Dace Blue, Supernatural Hot Perch, Holographic Green Shiner, Ice Perch or Fire Craw. Each pack contains one 6 cm, 14 g sinking lure in your selected colour. Choose the finish you want, not a different size or a mixed-colour set.
