The 3 m model has a 3.5 lb test curve, the 3.6 m models offer 3, 3.5 or 3.75 lb, and the 3.9 m models offer 3.5 or 4 lb. There is also a 257 g, 3 lb version. Choose the 3 m model for a more compact rod, or the longer fast-action models when distance casting matters. No casting-weight rating in grams is supplied, so do not treat test curve as a casting limit.
No. The 3 lb versions have a 40 mm butt guide, while the 3.5, 3.75 and 4 lb versions have a 50 mm butt guide. All use SeaGuide Minima guides with an anti-frap tip ring. Check test curve, not just rod length, when choosing the guide size you want.
All versions are two-piece rods supplied with a zipped nylon sleeve and butt guide protector. Allow 152 cm for the 3 m, 3.5 lb model, 182 cm for the 3.6 m models and the 257 g, 3 lb version, and 198 cm for the 3.9 m models. Compare these packed lengths with your available storage space before choosing a version.
The offset 1K carbon line clip is designed to improve bite indication with slack lines. It is fitted throughout the range, so you can select length and test curve without losing this feature. Marker whippings 30 and 50 cm from the reel seat also provide fixed references for measuring line.

The Combat-X Classic Shrink is a two-piece freshwater carp rod built on a lightweight, fast-recovering high-modulus 24/30T carbon blank with a 1K carbon finish. The range covers fishing close to the margins and casting farther out, with fast-action blanks on the 3.6 and 3.9 m models for distance casting.
The 3 m version has a 3.5 lb test curve, weighs 312 g and offers a shorter rod than the 3.6 and 3.9 m options. At 3.6 m, the 3 lb model weighs 337 g, the 3.5 lb model 359 g and the 3.75 lb model 373 g. At 3.9 m, the 3.5 lb model weighs 410 g and the 4 lb model 406 g. A further 3 lb version weighs 257 g. Compare individual weights as well as test curves when considering handling, since a higher test curve does not always mean a heavier rod. Choose the longer fast-action models when casting distance is the priority, bearing in mind their greater transport length. Test curve is not a specified casting-weight rating.
The 3 lb versions have a 40 mm butt guide. All other test curves use a 50 mm butt guide, so this fitting changes with test curve rather than length.
Six SeaGuide Minima guides, including an anti-frap tip ring, guide the line, with the tip design helping to reduce line wraps. An offset 1K carbon line clip improves bite indication when fishing with slack lines. Marker whippings 30 and 50 cm from the reel seat provide reference points for measuring line.
A full-length Japanese shrink tube handle with a flared butt provides a continuous grip surface. The rod has a SeaGuide DPS reel seat and a black anodised butt cap. Discreet grey alignment markers at each joint help line up the sections during assembly. There is no hook keeper.
Every version separates into two pieces and comes with a butt guide protector and a zipped nylon rod sleeve. The 3 m, 3.5 lb version packs down to 152 cm. The 3.6 m versions and the 257 g, 3 lb version have a stated transport length of 182 cm, while the 3.9 m models require 198 cm of storage space.
