Yes. A deep slot at the base lets the line move while the rod remains in the rest. This allows you to set line tension for feeder fishing without lifting the rod out.
No. The sides are designed to keep the rod secure while still allowing easy removal when a bite occurs. You can leave the rod supported between bites and lift it out when needed.
It attaches by a threaded fitting to a bankstick or other rod supports. No thread size is supplied, so check that the fitting matches your support rather than assuming a particular thread standard.

The Preston Rod Safe - U is a compact, durable rod rest for coarse fishing and a wide range of other fishing methods. Its deep line slot lets you move the line while the rod remains supported, particularly useful when setting line tension for feeder fishing.
The slot sits at the base of the rest, so you can adjust line tension without lifting the rod out. High sides keep the rod secure while still allowing you to lift it out easily when a bite occurs.
A threaded fitting attaches the rest to a bankstick or other rod supports. The supplier does not specify the thread size, so check compatibility with your support before choosing it. The simple, compact construction is described as tough and durable. Product dimensions are 20 cm long, 2.8 cm wide and 5.5 cm high.
