The forged and machined aluminium spool is paired with machined brass main and pinion gears. Both sizes have a 5.1:1 gear ratio and retrieve 86 cm per handle turn, so choosing the larger version does not change the stated retrieve rate.
The bearing arrangement is 2+1 stainless steel bearings, with three bearings in total. An Instant Anti-Reverse bearing prevents backward handle rotation. Both reels also have a mechanical braking system.
