The Penn Fathom II 25NLD2 is a right-hand two-speed multiplier reel (NLD2 = No Level Wind, Dual speed) engineered for serious saltwater anglers who demand strength, drag reliability, and smooth power switching when it counts most.
The frame and palm side plate are machined from a single block of aluminium, creating a rigid, play-free housing that keeps the stainless steel main and pinion gears in precise alignment under load. This construction eliminates the flex that can rob drag pressure and accelerate gear wear during extended fights with heavy saltwater species.
The Dura-Drag™ system delivers consistent, heat-resistant braking up to 14.97 kg (33 lb) of maximum drag. The Pull-To-Turn preset knob must be pulled outward before it can be turned, preventing accidental drag changes mid-fight. The Quick-Shift II™ dual-speed mechanism lets you drop from the 5.5:1 high gear (38 cm per turn) to the 2.8:1 low gear (19 cm per turn) instantly, giving you the torque needed to turn a stubborn fish without losing control.
