PENN Battalion Solid Bait Boat: strength and feel for bait fishing

The PENN Battalion Solid Bait Boat sea fishing rod is designed for large fish on natural bait rigs from a boat. Reinforced spiral-shaped fibres in its Solid Spiral Armor carbon blank provide strength while keeping the blank slim and sensitive, helping you feel bottom contact and bites.

Setup and handling

This 1.98 m rod has Heavy power, Fast action and a 20–30 lb line rating. That rating describes the line class, not a casting weight. It is designed for use with a baitcasting reel and has a DPS Type reel seat. The rod weighs 348 g and has a split grip made from High Grade EVA for a secure hold during extended boat sessions.

Guides and construction

Seven Fuji K Alconite guides, including the tip, combine stainless steel frames with Alconite rings. They guide the line during the fight while contributing to a lightweight feel in the hand. The blank material is Spiral Armor Solid Carbon, and the finish is Gloss Grey.

Transport

The 1+1 construction packs down to 145 cm. Allow that length when planning storage and transport. The rod is supplied in a cloth bag.

Frequently asked

What is this rod designed for?

It is designed for large fish on natural bait rigs in saltwater from a boat, with a baitcasting reel. The 1.98 m length, Heavy power and 20–30 lb line class identify the setup, rather than a lure casting-weight range.

How much transport space does it need?

The 1+1 construction has a transport length of 145 cm, compared with its assembled length of 1.98 m. Plan storage for a 145 cm section length. A cloth bag is included.
