The Okuma Makaira Spinning family comprises left-hand sea-fishing spinning reels with a Dual Force Drag (DFD) system and corrosion-resistant components. Carbonite and felt drag washers, with Cal's drag grease on the DFD system, provide the drag arrangement for fighting fish. The preset drag system works on a principle comparable to a lever-drag reel, while click adjustment allows precise settings. These are fixed-spool reels, not conventional lever-drag models.
The aluminium body, sideplate and Cyclonic Flow Rotor are paired with a forged stainless steel main gear and a precision-machined pinion. The oversized 17-4 stainless steel spool shaft reduces bending under load. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel bearings, the CRC (corrosion-resistant coating) process and HDGII high-density, corrosion-resistant gearing address exposure during sea fishing.
