Yes, it is designed specifically for freshwater catfish fishing from a belly boat and is also described for vertical fishing. The extra-short handle supports compact handling, and a dedicated ring lets you attach a safety coil lanyard. The short handle and lanyard attachment address handling and securing the rod in that fishing position.
The 1.80 m model is rated for 60–150 g lures, with Medium Fast action and Medium Heavy power. Use the stated lure-weight range to choose your lure setup. Its sensitive 30TC Nano Carbon blank also provides power reserves for controlling catfish during the fight.
Allow for a transport length of 1.40 m. The 1.80 m rod has a two-section 1+1 construction and weighs 182 g, so choose storage space or a rod bag by the stated transport length, not half the assembled length.
The foregrip has X-wrap shrink tube for improved grip and easier cleaning, while the SeaGuide reel seat uses two locking nuts to secure the reel. These features address hand contact and reel retention during belly boat fishing and fighting fish.

The Madcat White Belly Cat is a freshwater catfish rod designed specifically for belly boat fishing, including vertical lure presentations. Its extra-short handle keeps handling compact in the seated fishing position, while a dedicated ring provides an attachment point for a safety coil lanyard. Madcat describes this generation as lighter and more sensitive than its predecessors, with greater power reserves to help maintain control during the fight.
The 30TC Nano Carbon blank combines sensitivity with power for fighting catfish. This 1.80 m version has a Medium Fast action, Medium Heavy power and a 60–150 g lure rating, giving you a defined weight range for choosing lures. The rod weighs 182 g. Lightweight SeaGuide guides support the line, with seven guides including the tip and Seaguide XB specified as the guide type.
The full grip uses Shrink Tube EVA, with an EVA butt. X-wrap shrink tube covers the foregrip to improve grip and make cleaning easier after use. The SeaGuide reel seat uses a double locking nut system to hold the reel securely during fishing and the fight.
The white rod has a 1+1 construction, comprising two sections, and a transport length of 1.40 m. Check storage space against that packed length rather than assuming two equal-length sections.
