It is designed for vertical jigging for European catfish in freshwater from a boat and also suits belly-boat fishing. Its sensitive 1.90 m blank is useful for active lure control in confined space, rather than being a general long-distance casting design.
The stated lure rating is 150 g, with Fast action and Medium Heavy power. Use that rating when choosing your lure setup. No lower rating is supplied, so it should not be read as a specified casting-weight range.
No. It is a one-piece rod with a stated transport length of 191 cm. Allow that full length in your vehicle and storage, as it does not pack down like a multi-section rod.
The EVA handle has a smooth, non-slip shrink-tube covering that is easy to clean after wet or muddy use. The oversized EVA Comfort butt cap cushions contact when the rod is braced at the groin during a fight, making this contact point more comfortable.

The Madcat Black Vertical is a one-piece catfish rod designed for vertical jigging in freshwater from a boat. It also suits active catfish fishing from a belly boat. Its sensitive, well-balanced 24T Carbon blank helps you feel lure movements, while its powerful backbone supports hook-setting and playing catfish.
This version measures 1.90 m, has a 150 g lure rating and weighs 245 g. Its Fast action and Medium Heavy power combine sensitivity with the strength needed for active catfish fishing. The short format is useful when working vertically with limited space on a boat or belly boat.
The light, ergonomically shaped SeaGuide® XSS reel seat provides a comfortable hold during active fishing. The fitted model is SeaGuide XSS16-MN16. Seven Seaguide guides, including the tip guide, carry the line along the blank.
The black EVA handle is covered with shrink tube for a smooth, non-slip grip in wet or muddy conditions. Its easy-to-clean surface is practical after handling fish. The oversized EVA Comfort butt cap cushions contact at the groin when bracing the rod during a fight.
The blank has no section joint and cannot be broken down for travel. Its stated transport length is 191 cm, so check that your vehicle and rod storage can accommodate it.
