PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) is a water-soluble plastic that dissolves on water contact. Using PVA mesh funnels lets you deliver bait (boilies, pellets, or particles) directly next to the hook with zero tangle risk. Once submerged, the mesh dissolves, leaving only your carefully presented offering.
Thread the mesh coil onto your hair rig above the hook. Load boilies, pellets, or particles into the wide end, then slide it down to position the mesh around your bait and hook. Once cast and submerged, water diffuses through the mesh, dissolving the PVA and releasing your bait exactly where intended.
Wide (35mm) suits larger baits, mixed offerings, or shapes that are hard to bind. Narrow (25mm) works best for refined presentations with single boilies, small pellets, or light particle mixes. Many anglers keep both for different situations and venues.
PVA mesh works excellently with dry baits: boilies, pellets, particles, seeds, and mixtures. It does not suit live baits (worms, maggots) or soft baits (paste, dough) because these absorb water too quickly and dissolve the mesh prematurely. Use firm, water-resistant baits for best results.
A 6m coil typically yields 20-30 individual funnels, depending on how much material you use per rig. This provides multiple session's worth of funnels or enough for a full match. Save your offcuts to combine with other material for experimental or mixed rigs.
