The electronic bite alarm's threaded stem passes through the hole in the plate before the alarm is screwed onto a bankstick or rod pod. The adapter therefore mounts beneath the alarm rather than replacing the support.
Set the hockey stick to the angle that gives the required bite-indicator tension, then screw your chosen cord, chain or quiver arm into place to secure it. This lets you adjust the indicator tension for your water, conditions and rig.
The ears help stop the rod from falling off the bite alarm, and their rubber overmould protects the blank from scratches and damage. They unscrew for transport or when not required, so you can leave them off while retaining the hockey stick.
