Balzer Solid Cat: sensitive bite detection and power for catfish

The Balzer Solid Cat is a catfish rod for tensioned rigs and subfloat fishing from an anchored boat. Its slim solid-carbon tip combines sensitivity with strength. The soft tip action makes bites visible, while power increases towards the butt to help control large catfish during the fight.

Medium-distance fishing

The 2.70 m rod is intended for medium distances and has a casting weight rating of up to 450 g. Its strong backbone supports control under load.

Construction and handling

The blank and tip are solid carbon, using Japanese IM-12 carbon fibre. The unsanded IM-12 blank is wrapped with Carbon Tape. A FUJI reel seat holds the reel, and underwrapped FUJI Alconite guides carry the line. Shrink Rubber grips provide a secure hold when handling the rod.

Transport and weight

The two-piece rod packs down to 140 cm and weighs 435 g. Allow for this transport length when choosing a rod bag or planning storage on the boat.
