The Balzer Mackerel Paternoster (pre-tied paternoster rig) is a ready-to-fish, 180 cm saltwater rig designed specifically for targeting mackerel from boats, piers, and harbour walls.
With a 0.60 mm main trace and 0.40 mm snoods, this rig strikes a practical balance between strength and natural presentation. The heavier backbone handles the strain of sea fishing, while the finer snoods allow the baited hooks to move freely and convincingly in the current.
All three size-1 hooks are dressed with green glitter tassels and beads. The tassels flutter and catch light as the rig moves through the water, mimicking the shimmer of small baitfish — a proven stimulus for mackerel, especially in clear water or variable light conditions.
