It is intended for freshwater pike, zander and perch with large softbaits, jerkbaits and diving plugs. Its oversized aluminium gearing supports retrieving against lure resistance, making it suited to large pike lures, zander jigs and larger perch softbaits. Pike trolling is also a stated application.
Yes, braid is explicitly supported. Rocket Line Management™ and Rocket Spool Lip Design™ promote even line lay and reduce tangles during casting. The stated capacity is 265 m of 0.25 mm line, so use that diameter-specific figure rather than treating 265 m as a capacity for every braid.
The 6.2:1 gearing retrieves 96 cm per handle turn, helping pick up line quickly when jigging or twitching. The Power Stack Carbon Matrix Drag System™ provides fine adjustment and up to 10 kg of drag, with smooth line release to control sudden runs.
The supplier pairs this 303 g reel with medium to heavy predator spinning rods, typically rated for 20–80 g casting weight and fitted with a suitable reel seat. Choose the rod according to the actual lure weight, especially for large jerkbaits or heavier zander jigs, rather than using the reel's drag rating as a lure-weight guide.

The Abu Garcia Beast SP4000H is a spinning reel for freshwater pike, zander and perch fishing with larger lures. Its oversized Duragear™ Gen III aluminium gearing provides retrieving power under resistance, while the one-piece X2-Craftic™ aluminium frame maintains stability under load. This construction suits demanding work with large softbaits, jerkbaits and diving plugs.
A 6.2:1 gear ratio and 96 cm of line retrieved per handle turn support fast line pickup during jigging and twitching. The reel is intended for casting large lures for pike, jigging for zander along current seams and fishing larger softbaits for perch. The supplier also specifies pike trolling as an application.
The Power Stack Carbon Matrix Drag System™ offers fine adjustment and a maximum drag of 10 kg. Its smooth release helps control sudden runs without jerky line payout. Four HPCR™ stainless-steel ball bearings, three Salt Shield ball bearings and one roller bearing support smooth running. A stainless-steel main shaft and an aluminium handle with oversized Soft-Touch knobs complete the construction, with the larger knobs providing a comfortable grip when cranking against resistance.
Rocket Line Management™ and Rocket Spool Lip Design™ promote even line lay and reduce unwanted line tangles, including when using braid. These features support controlled, longer casts with predator lures. Line capacity is 265 m at 0.25 mm diameter.
The SP4000H weighs 303 g. It suits medium to heavy predator spinning rods, with the supplier indicating a typical casting-weight range of 20–80 g and a compatible reel seat. For large jerkbaits or heavier jigs, choose the rod within its own stated lure rating.
