Rapala identifies the smaller X-Rap versions for perch, chub and trout, and also for zander or pike feeding on fry or refusing bigger offerings. The Rapala X-Rap is a minnow-shaped hard lure for predator fishing. It combines aggressive Slashbait action with the option of a classic Rapala wobble, letting you vary the retrieve cadence. Its suspending action keeps the lure hovering during pauses rather than continuing to rise or sink. Smaller versions suit perch, chub and trout, and offer a small presentation for zander and pike feeding on fry or refusing larger lures. The XR10 is also described specifically for spinning for perch and pike.
The family includes four model codes with different weights, depths and hook specifications. Choose by the actual variant specifications, not the model code alone.
XR04: 4 cm, 2 g and a running depth of 0.6–0.9 m. This is the smallest and shallowest option, with two #12 hooks (4651 BN). It has no internal long-cast system.
XR06: 6 cm, 4 g and 0.9–1.5 m. It offers a larger profile than XR04 and carries two #10 hooks (4651 BN).

The X-Rap is balanced for long, accurate casts. XR06, XR08 and XR10 include an internal long-cast system to support casting distance, unlike XR04. The translucent body, internal holographic foil, prominent scales and lateral line catch and reflect light. Holographic 3D eyes add to the baitfish appearance, while the feathered tail adds a further visual stimulus during the retrieve. Plastic is specified for the variants supplied by Rapala VMC.
Rapala describes VMC Black Nickel round-bend hooks and hand-tuning followed by tank testing. Hook sizes and component codes differ by model as listed above, so check the variant when comparing hook equipment. The Neptun-supplied XR10 colour listings specify one lure in the selected colour.
Use the lure only for fishing and follow local regulations. Handle sharp hooks with pliers when attaching or removing the lure, keep the casting area clear, and check hooks, the body and the line connection before use. Do not use damaged lures.
