The 14 cm version weighs 50 g and has a running depth of about 1 m, making it a good choice for targeting larger pike in slightly deeper water. The 12 cm version is lighter and more versatile, suitable for a wider range of predator species including pike, zander, and perch.
In clear water and bright conditions, natural patterns like Holo Smelt or Silver Chartreuse Shad work well because of their realistic flash. In stained or murky water, bolder patterns like Red Perch or Barred Muskie provide better visibility for predators. Matching local baitfish is always a good starting point.
A medium to medium-heavy jerkbait rod works well. The Sweeper responds to both slow, sweeping jerks for wide glides and short, sharp rips for tight 180° turns. Combining slow cranking with short jerks produces an especially enticing action.

The Salmo Sweeper Sinking is a slim, sinking glide bait (jerkbait) designed for targeting pike, zander, and perch. Thanks to its unique body shape and perfect balance, it convincingly imitates a weak or wounded baitfish — a trigger no predator can resist.
The Sweeper glides further to the sides than typical lures of its kind and requires less effort from the angler. Its wide glides and 180-degree turns cause the lure to "shimmy" its sides, creating an irresistible action. Whether retrieved slowly with long sweeps or fished with short, sharp jerks, the Sweeper delivers a lifelike dying-baitfish presentation.
Part of the Salmo line-up since 2010, the Sweeper features a Salmo High Density Space-Aged Foam (HDSF) body with thru-wire construction welded at the ends for maximum durability. Polycarbonate stabiliser fins at the rear ensure a stable run with strong flash. Every lure is individually hand-tuned and tank-tested before leaving the factory.
The Sweeper Sinking is available in 12 cm and 14 cm (50 g) sizes. Colour options include natural patterns created with Salmo's True Image Technology and Holographic Feature Technology, as well as modernistic designs.
