Freestyle Pro Vertical 180
The Black Cat Freestyle Pro Vertical 180 is a single-piece, 1.8 m catfish rod built for vertical fishing technique from the boat, pairing a 240 g casting weight with a progressive blank that handles heavy lures and hard-fighting wels without sacrificing bite sensitivity.
The blank combines 24TON and 30TON carbon in a spiral solid construction: multiple layers laid on different axis directions reinforce each other under both compressive and tensional forces. The result is a blank that stays stable when a powerful fish bores deep, yet transmits enough feedback for confident hook-sets.
The laser-carved EVA handle features a high-grip X-Wrap finish on the foregrip and a flattened rear grip that locks comfortably against the forearm when applying pressure. The abbreviated handle length reduces unwanted leverage, keeping the rod manoeuvrable directly over the hotspot. Eight high-strength stainless steel Seaguide guides and a Fuji DPSM reel seat complete a setup built to last.
The Freestyle Pro Vertical 180 is currently available in one configuration. Key factors to consider are casting weight relative to lure and sinker combinations, rod length for boat vs. bank positioning, and blank action suited to your preferred retrieve style.
